NEW YORK FASHION WEEK S/S 2016
If you followed along with my adventures this season, you may have noticed a slight change from the typical fashion week protocol. This time around, I purposely left my Canon camera at the apartment and decided to take in NYFW with just my cell phone. No fighting over a spot to get the best shot. No flustering as I quickly try to change lenses. No carrying around a bulky camera plus my bag plus the inevitable gift bag plus magazines...it get's crazy (hence the need for an assistant)....Just calmly taking my seat and enjoying watching the fashion shows...with nothing but my cell phone.
NYFW was really different this season. And I have to say I wasn't a fan. Am I the only one who felt that the multiple locations all over the city was just....hectic, awkward & kind of annoying? I felt a lack of cohesiveness and excitement that I always felt walking into the tents at Lincoln Center.
Mercedes-Benz is no longer the sponsor of New York's biggest fashion event; handing that role over to Lexus as the main sponsor for fashion week. But that wasn't the only change. Lincoln Center, which used to serve as home base for the fashion week tents & sponsors, was not a part of the festivities anymore. Overall, it felt weird. Painfully exclusive. Cold. Almost boring. Stark....Different locations. Everything and everyone spread out all over the city...it was no wonder I decidedly missed a few shows, giving my tickets to a close friend who took photos and covered the shows for me....many times I just couldn't be in 2 places at once. Did I mention it was pouring rain too? I miss you Lincoln Center...side note. I went to 0 parties this time. I blame having a new boyfriend for my lazy attitude toward the party scene.

LOVED the Jay Godfrey WHITE-OUT s/s16 presentation. The minimalistic set design accented by jewelry from WXYZ jewelry was spot on fabulous. Bravo Jay Godfrey and thanks for the intro to the coolest accessories...I'm obsessed with this space-age jewelry line. Check out the bunny ears I need to have below:

This trip to New York was slightly different for me. Instead of the typical busy show schedule, hurrying back to the apartment to upload hundreds of photos to edit and then blog... somewhere in there eating dinner...usually my first meal of the day, I relaxed this time.
This time I literally shopped till I dropped. Walked the city till my feet ached. Ate till I was stuffed. Gabbed with my girls till it was literally time to go to bed. Graced my aunt & uncle with my presence for longer than they knew what to do with....it was wonderful. I spent more time with my family (whose SoHo apartment I stay in every September). I spent more quality time with friends. Instead of quick talks in between shows, we shopped and walked till we found cute places to sit down, eat and catch up on our lives for hours on end.
Basically, I spent more time having fun: exploring the city, eating at new places, seeing friends I only see once a year, shopping, shopping, shopping!
Fashion week got put on the back-burner this trip....dare I say I'm over it...
